Board Meeting at the Maintenance Facility

This March, the board meeting was a little out of the ordinary. For the first time ever, it was held at the maintenance grounds department.

Everyday, every golfer and member that drives up the entrance road to the clubhouse passes the maintenance building, but few have ever been inside. This is one of the main reasons the grounds management team offered to host the March board meeting. We wanted to showcase our facility and the equipment it takes to maintain a high end golf course. Also, this was an opportunity to introduce the two Assistant Superintendents, Adam Roels and Chris Shimmin and let them explain their roles in the golf course maintenance operation.

During the board meeting, a tour of the facility and all the equipment was given to the Board Members. Like a showroom, the equipment was set up to display the purpose of each piece, when it was purchased, and how many hours it has.

Head Superintendent, Ron Fox, explained the importance of the reel cutting unit, how it effects ball roll, and how reel mower technology has changed over the years.

Special thanks to the Board for allowing us to host the March board meeting and their continued support of the Point O' Woods Grounds Department. We would also like to thank the Point O' Woods Grounds Crew for helping prepare for the meeting and the hard work they put in throughout the golfing season.
