Enough Already

After nearly 2 1/2 inches of rainfall in the last 24 hours, many of the fairways have standing water and are virtually unplayable.  With additional storms and rainfall forecasted for this afternoon, we decided to closed the golf course to prevent any further damage to already waterlogged soils.

After the rain, we began pushing water to get standing water off of the fairway to prevent sun scald. Standing water on turf surfaces magnifies the suns rays, which heats the puddled water to high temperatures that "cooks' the turf.

Using a "water hog" to soak up standing water.

Turf squeegies help push the water to drains or into higher cut rough areas.
